The Guards:
There is a room with some scribes doing their scribing + whatnot. They
will ask "What are you doing here?" To this you can reply (Haughty) Do
you know WHO I AM?! How dare you ask what we are doing here?! I'll have
you in Tyranthraxus' torture chambers for your ignorance! (They will ask
on who's authority you are here?) To which you can
reply....(Tyranthraxus) Their response? (with a nod of the head you are
left alone) heheheh.
We entered a room with some brutes that demanded us to say the password.
Amazingly I remembered what the password was from the last time I
played which was quite some time ago. (harash). You'll probably be asked
this a few times so remember it. "OK. But no hanging around."
The Gnolls:
There is a room where some Gnolls are mistreating some slaves. Don't
bother talking to the Gnolls. Your true friends here are the slaves. Any
place you find slaves, Free Them! They will give you valuable
information, i.e. a password to the Castle Gates.
Info from the Slaves:
And other slaves will give you clothes to use as a disguise so you can get close to Tyranthraxus and kill him.
Diver Down:
There is a well in which you can dive down into and retrieve a sword. (might be worth your while)
Password to the Castle Gates:
Yeah, the slaves let you know the password to the gates of Valjevo Castle. (rhodia)
Now repeat after me.....
Rhodia.
Hedge Maze:
The party enters the hedge maze. (Don't cut through any hedges. They are
poisonous! + you won't need to cut through any. Just follow the paths.)
Teleportation Square:
Your next step should be to find the hedge maze's teleportation square. You'll be able to get where you need to go from there.
The Imposter:
There are two buildings of interest in the maze. One which has an
imposter posing as Tyranthraxus. (I hate posers). One of the guards ask
what your business is with the Lord of Phlan (Tyranthraxus). I kept
thinking of how to respond, even though really I was just there to put
an end to his life. I tried to go through all the options to see what
would happen. Nice and Meek both will allow you to leave, but an alarm
will sound when you do. Sly will lead to a fight. + I didn't bother to
restart to find what haughty or abusive would do, though I wouldn't
think they'd bring anything but a fight anyway.
Teleport:
Use the teleporter to find the other building.
Secret Door:
As you enter through the door, it looks like a large empty building.
(It's not. Immediately upon entering the room, turn right and walk
through the wall/secret door. There is the secret passageway that leads
to a doorway. Here you can access the final areas of the castle.
The Basement:
After you pass through the hallway/door, you can then find the secret
door to the left, or you can go down to the basement where you will meet
up with a medusa.
Medusa:
Want a close-up?
Errands for the Messenger:
You will enter a room where one of Tyranthraxus' henchman is giving out
tasks for messengers. Here's one tired messenger about to go on another
errand.
We are the messengers:
Suddenly you hear the henchman yell out he needs another messenger.
Hmmm. Sounds like a job for us. hehehe. Oh and if the taskman gets
suspicious that you aren't really messengers of Tyranthraxus, just act
sly you weasels!
Double crossing agent:
Us? Agents of Tyranthraxus, turn against him? (I thought about saying
no. Maybe it might be a trick? But then I figured, here we are a group
of seasoned adventurers armed to the teeth and here is this one lowly
henchmen giving orders to messenger boys. He's scared. Yeah. He's scared
and thinks we really are agents of the o' Tyranthraxus. He's trying to
get out of the business and taking any way out he can find. Yeah he's
scared all right. Agree with his plan to turn against Tyranthraxus. You
know your going to anyway. Why not have some other traitorous henchmen
on you side? He leaves to let others know of your plan and to let you
defeat Tyranthraxus. (less monsters in the last few fights?)
Tyranthraxus' Audience Hall
Here you can reach the audience hall of Tyranthraxus. No roof? Yeah you know whats coming!
The Pool of Radiance:
Hey, isn't that the Pool of Radiance over there? Yeeaaah! About time huh?
Tyranthraxus!: Need I say more?
Send the guards:
You really didn't think he'd waste his time if he had some useless
guards to throw your way first did you? Hey after you defeat his guards,
this would be a good time to delay going to the treasure screen. First
heal your characters with spells, potions of healing and xtra healing.
And if you still have your Keoghtum's Ointments, this is the best time
to use them. Get you team nice and healed before going up against ol'
Tyranthraxus for the first time.
Join Tyranthraxus?
+ when sending the guards after you doesn't work, he'll ask you to join
his army. He will ask each and every member of your party whether they
would like to join him. Any NPC's that you picked up along the way/or
hired at the training hall will turn on you and join with Tyranthraxus.
(I tried having everyone join him just to see what happens. It just
shoots to the monsters rejoicing as your party has been defeated screen
so don't bother joining Tyranthraxus. There is no alternate ending.
You'll just have to settle for the kill the bad guy ending.)
Attack!!!!!!
Fight! Slash! Stab! Cut! Smash! Bash! Hi-Yah!!!
What????
Well you didn't think you could really defeat Tyranthraxus in just ONE
AD+D game did you? What's that? A premonition of the future?
Any remaining monsters scatter once you've defeated ol' Tyranthraxus.
The quest is finally over. Or is it? We do all the tough dirty work
and they still expect us to do cleanup? Can't they get any knights to
help us at all? We've done everything for you! Well at least we do get
rewarded.
Fully Loaded! Check out the Jewelery! No they don't really give you
that much loot! It was a glitch somewhere in the game. That's the second
time it has happened. Not sure exactly how it happens though.
